My name is Leila. I am Brazilian by birth and have been living in the UK since 1991. My international experience has enriched my perspective and adaptability. Listening to music and dancing in an embodied way have been an integral part of my life and my healing journey.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Dance Movement Psychotherapy awarded by the University of Hertfordshire, UK in 1997. During the DMP training program, I worked extensively with children with learning difficulties and autism in a special school in Hackney, London. This hands-on experience has equipped me with effective therapeutic techniques tailored to the unique needs of these children. I also run sessions in Mental Health settings, further enhancing my expertise. I also hold a BSc in Pedagogy in Education, awarded in Brazil in 1989, as well as a certificate in counselling skills, personal development, and group work, awarded by London City University in 1994.
At present, I am leading DMP sessions at community centres, care homes for those with dementia, and for individuals with learning difficulties and autism. I am on the path to becoming an embodied complex trauma(CPTSD) therapist, a journey that mirrors my love for continuous growth and learning. I am registered with the Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapists (ADMP UK) and deeply passionate about my work.
